Maine DOT Employs New Roadway Safety Technology

Abstract:

As construction season begins, Maine officials stress the importance of safe driving in work zones to prevent accidents and fatalities. Representatives from various organizations, including the Maine Department of Transportation and the Maine Turnpike Authority, highlighted the state’s ‘Move Over Law’ and the use of new Smart Work Zone System technology to enhance safety. This system uses portable sensors to monitor traffic and provide real-time information to drivers, improving awareness and safety. Emphasizing the critical role of cautious driving, officials urge drivers to slow down and remain attentive to protect road construction workers.
