Make Every Week “Work Zone Safety Week”

IN 1998, nearly 37,000 people were injured in work zones. To call public attention to these grim facts and encourage safe driving in work zones, the Federal Highway Administration, the American Traffic Safety Services Association, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials have designated April 3-7, 2000, “Work Zone Safety Week” (WZSW). This article provides suggestions on how to make this national focus even more effective by making it a local campaign.
