MnDOT Says Work Zone Crashes Increased in 2002
Abstract:The Minnesota Department of Transportation said highway construction zones got more dangerous last year, with a 22 percent increase in crashes from 2001. Nearly 2,800 crashes were reported in work zones last year, killing 18 people. The department said that’s the most fatal crashes since at least 1990. Nationally, 1,079 people were killed and more than 42,000 were injured in roadway construction sites during 2001.
