National Work Zone Awareness Week is April 6-12, 2003: Contractors, CDOT and CSP Fight Work Zone Injury and Death

Abstract:

The Colorado Department of Transportation, the Colorado Contractor’s Association and Colorado State Patrol are part of a national safety campaign to educate the motorists on the hazards associated with driving through construction zones. National Work Zone Awareness Week begins as Colorado’s construction season gets underway and summer tourist travel starts to increase. Colorado’s highway contractors, CDOT and the Colorado State Patrol will focus education on those who cause the majority of accidents in work zones statewide-drunk drivers and speeders. CSP enforcement of drunk driving laws will be at an all-time high in 2003 and speeders will continue to be targets of law enforcement. April is traditionally the month when many road construction and maintenance projects get underway after the winter slowdown period.
