New Law Aims to Slow Work-Zone Speeders
Abstract:In Pennsylvania, a new law has taken effect that requires work zones to be marked with a flashing sign that warns driver they couolld lose their license for 15 days if caught going at least 11 mph over the speed limit. A provision of the same law requiring the use of headlights in construction zones went into effect earlier this year. The new law also adds five years to the maximum sentence for homicide-by-vehicle cases that occur within active work zones. PA is the first state to issue work-zone related license suspensions.
