New Research Reveals Distracted Driving in Construction Zones Declining

Abstract:

A new research released by Transurban-Fluor and AAA Mid-Atlantic reveals that distracted driving is decreasing in the Capital Beltway HOT Lanes construction zone. More than 33% of the 1,000 Beltway drivers participated in the survey have stopped talking on cell phones while driving in the past year. Cell phone use while driving has been a safety problem for years. Distracted driving awareness programs, such as the “Orange Cones. No Phones.” campaign, are having a positive impact on drivers’ distracted driving habits.
