New Technology Could Reduce Roadway and Work Zone Crashes

Author/Presenter: Schneider, Scott
Abstract:

About 800 people are killed in roadway work zones every year and at least 100 of them are workers. New and better technology from car manufacturers is here to help. As of May 2018, all new cars sold in the U.S. had to be equipped with backup cameras. Many other features are increasingly being offered as standard features in new vehicles. This article discusses how new cars with improved technologies work for preventing crashes, fatalities, and injuries, and improving work zone safety.
