New Work Zone Safety Initiative Not in Place at Deadly Crash Site in DeKalb County

At the beginning of the year, the Indiana Department of Transportation launched a new Protect the Queue Program, which places trucks with queue message boards about 1/4 mile ahead of a work zone to alert drivers, to improve work zone safety. However, this program has only been implemented at select work zones so far, not including the work zone in DeKalb County where Wednesday’s deadly crash on Interstate 69 occurred.
