New York Begins Statewide Pothole, Road Paving Effort

Abstract:

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a statewide initiative to repair potholes and improve road conditions following a severe winter. The New York State Department of Transportation will deploy 215 crews to fill an estimated 175,000 potholes using more than 8,000 tons of asphalt, with additional repairs planned throughout the paving season. Supported by an $800 million investment in the state’s fiscal year 2026 budget, the effort also includes more than 180 paving projects covering over 4,000 lane miles, representing one of the largest roadway improvement programs in New York’s history.
