Abstract:This article highlights a pioneering initiative undertaken by Oregon’s Umatilla County in collaboration with Drivewyze, North America’s premier Connected Truck platform, and one.network, a leading digital work zone management provider, to enhance highway safety. The program aims to reduce commercial vehicle crash rates in active work zones through in-cab safety alerts provided to truck drivers. By leveraging Drivewyze Free, truckers receive real-time notifications about upcoming work zones, effectively curbing over-speeding and hard-braking events. This innovative approach integrates data-driven strategies with technological solutions, marking a significant step towards improving rural road safety.
