Paid Duty Gets a Second Look

Councillor Mike Del Grande of Toronto is determined to cut back paid-duty costs, the costs for hiring off-duty police for special events and construction zones, and replace officers with civilian traffic wardens at many sites. His decision has generated a debate among the budget committee members and police representatives.
