Photo Radar Proposed for School, Work Zones

Author/Presenter: Artuso, Antonella
Abstract:

MPP David Caplan proposed to reintroduce photo radar cameras in schools and construction sites. If the bill is passed, municipalities throughout the province will be given the authority to place cameras in community safety zones at their discretion but also required to post signs before installing the cameras. A recent survey concluded that 67% of Ontarian citizens support the use of safety cameras in work zones and near schools. Similar cameras have been successfully utilized by the province, but were recently removed.
