Police Lament State’s Traffic-Control Measures
Author/Presenter: Staul, JennaAbstract:
There are some issues going on between Rindge Police Department and New Hampshire Department of Transportation (DOT) regarding who should handle traffic control in construction zones. The DOT has been criticized for not notifying the police department when road construction takes place in Rindge area. It is believed that the DOT is using flaggers instead of police officers due to cost concerns. However, the police department argues that a uniformed officer is more visible than flaggers and can have better enforcement. They are working on a policy that would require the DOT to notify the police before construction begins in the area.
