Portable Speed Bumps in Work Zones
Abstract:In coordination with FHWA and CALTRANS, an engineer involved in the US – Mexico Border Technology Exchange Program has developed portable speed bumps that function much like rumble strips. It is hoped that when used at a work zone site, the portable bumps will encourage drivers to slow down ad decrease accidents in and around work zones.
The portable strips are durable and reflexive, both of which contribute to make the portable bumps a viable option, but they have yet to be approved by CALTRANS.
