See How New Cameras Catch Speeders: Highway Patrol Considers Wider Use
Abstract:In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, there has been a large increase in the number of tickets being issued to drivers for speeding and running red lights. Drivers are being ticketed more frequently because cameras placed around the city are detecting speeds in excess of the posted speed limit. Cameras have been effective in reducing speed although its effect on traffic crashes is not certain at this point. The Iowa State Patrol is considering using cameras to catch speeders in work zones.
