Run-over accidents due to improper driving of construction machinery can and should be prevented using the right procedures. It is the responsibility of the contractor’s safety officer and work-zone supervisors to establish certain traffic routes within the work zone. Along with organizational measures of safety precaution, technological advancements have been made as well to prevent run-overs and back-overs. Run-over accidents were the subject of the National Traffic Management & Work Zone Safety Conference in an effort to raise awareness.
