State Police Ticket More Than 100 Drivers in Construction Zone Sting

Abstract:

Though a joint effort with the Department of Transportation, state police, disguised as construction workers, conducted a sting operation and issued 102 tickets to drivers speeding through a construction zone in Onodaga County. Operation Hardhat was to crack down on work zone violations including speeding, seat belt violations, use of a cell phone while driving, work zone intrusion, and driving while intoxicated, and to highlight the importance of safe driving within active construction zones.
