The Purpose of Speed Cameras

It is no secret that unmanned speed cameras have provoked some very strong opinions. One state senator has promised to introduce legislation allowing their use only when there is at least one worker present, citing one site as an example of why the cameras should not be enforcing speed when there is no work being done. The cameras, however, are not only for the safety of workers, but also for the motorists.
