Traffic Control at Worksites – Training and Accreditation

Abstract:

Traffic Control Devices for Works on Roads provides a national standard for the establishment of temporary traffic control arrangements at roadwork sites. Each jurisdiction has a different requirement for the training and accreditation of personnel involved in the design and development of traffic management plans and traffic control plans. For industry, this results in additional training and accreditation costs for personnel who may be required to work in multiple jurisdictions. During this time of skills shortages in the civil construction industry, it is important that hurdles to more efficient productivity and the transportability of the workforce are removed where possible, while ensuring safety and legal requirements are met.
