2 Oregon Police Officers Killed in I-5 Accident

Author/Presenter: Dubois, Steven
Abstract:

In a devastating incident, two law enforcement officers, Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Maria Mignano and off-duty Albany policeman Jason Hoerauf, were killed, while another officer, OSP Sgt. John Burright, sustained critical injuries after being struck by a pickup truck on Interstate 5. The officers were assisting a disabled van on the highway shoulder near Salem when the accident occurred. Despite undergoing extensive emergency surgery, Sgt. Burright remained in critical condition. The circumstances surrounding the accident, which transpired in a construction work zone, remain unclear. The tragedy underscores the dangers faced by officers in the line of duty and the importance of ensuring their safety.
