Utility Work Zone Safety Guidelines and Training: State-of-the-Art Synthesis and State-of-the-Practice Synthesis
Abstract:Developed by Wayne State University under the FHWA Work Zone Safety Grant, this document presents the findings from a literature review and survey done to determine current knowledge on utility work zone safety and mobility and assess the state of practice of transportation agencies and utility contractors. Results allow identification of gaps to address in developing utility work zone guidelines to provide local transportation agencies and utility companies and contractors with information and guidance to perform their work safely and efficiently and to assist road agencies in developing local guidelines and standards to meet safety and mobility goals.
