Work Zone Fatal Crashes up Statewide; Total Southeast Michigan Fatal Crashes Down

Two reports released by the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments show the number of fatal crashes within work zones statewide increased in 2010 while overall fatal and serious injury crashes in southeastern Michigan fell. Officials say the best way to cut down on crashes and fatalities in work zones lies in sound engineering, education and enforcement.
