Work Zone Safety Rally to be Held in Downtown Seattle; Motorists Urged to “Give `em a Brake”

Abstract:

Since 1994, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has not had a fatality in a work zone. But a recent string of work zone incidents has been cause for concern. Prime construction season hasn’t started, yet a total of four workers have already been injured in a work zone since April. In response to this sudden increase in work zone incidents, WSDOT will host a work zone safety rally Friday, May 28th, at 12:00 Noon, on the grounds of the Occidental Mall in Seattle (Occidental & S Main Street). The City of Seattle, King County Department of Transportation, Seattle Public Utilities, and Washington State Patrol will partner with WSDOT in this event to help remind all motorists to “Give ’em a Brake” while traveling through a work zone.
