Work-Zone Speeders Targeted: Police Focus on I-475, I-75 Projects
Author/Presenter: Patch, DavidAbstract:
Police in Toledo, Ohio recently received a $50,000 grant for extra speed enforcement in work zones. Over 40 people were ticketed for speeding on I-475, between I-75 and Bowen Road. The posted speed limit on I-475 is 50 MPH, but some drivers went over that limit by more than 30 MPH. Officers are extremely concerned about the safety of workers. A “50 is Nifty” campaign is in place to urge drivers to obey the 50-mph work zone speed limit by reminding them about doubled fines for speeding violations.
