Work Zone Speeders Targeted: Police Patrols Increased in Construction Area to Help Reduce Road Injuries, Deaths

Michigan will nearly double police patrols in road construction zones and crack down on last-second lane changers as the state seeks to cut down on the number of accidents and injuries. As part of this year’s record $1.4-billion highway repair program, the Department of Transportation will pay Michigan State Police $350,000 for 7,700 hours of construction site patrols. That’s up from $175,000 for 4,000 hours last year.
