Year 2001 Season was Watershed in Work Zone Safety

During the 2001 road work season, the industry stepped up its war on work zone fatalities and injuries with new efforts at the national level, including a House subcommittee hearing on work zone safety, the nation’s second annual National Work Zone Safety Week in April, and the creation of a new traveling memorial to workers and drivers killed in work zones.
