Accommodating Pedestrians

Sidewalk,Closed,Sign,And,Road,Barricade.

Work zones located in areas with pedestrian traffic are hazardous to workers and pedestrians. The safe accommodation of pedestrians in work areas is an important issue that must be considered in planning, design and implementation of traffic control for work areas. Work zones that infringe upon sidewalks and pathways must establish temporary traffic control and other measures that effectively accommodate the pedestrians and other users of those sidewalks and pathways. This page includes resources that are related to pedestrian accommodations during road construction.
