Using Portable Changeable Message Signs to Control Speeding in Work Zones

The relatively large and conspicuous message displays of portable changeable message signs (PCMS) make them effective for providing work zone guidance and warning messages to drivers. This brief podcast looks at the important role PCMS can have in both active and passive speed control strategies within a work zone.

Audience:

State and local DOT staff charged with developing and maintaining an overall temporary traffic control plan, construction engineers, the owner-agencies and contractors who are responsible for implementing TTC plans, and field staff responsible for ensuring compliance with TTC plans.
