“Illinois Work Zone Safety Calendar Contest”
Started in 2005, the purpose of the annual Illinois Work Zone Safety Calendar Contest for elementary students was for students to help Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) promote work zone safety by becoming aware of work zones and educating their parents or caregivers about the importance of safe driving in work zones. Children in Kindergarten through sixth grade are eligible to participate in the contest. Poster entries should reflect the student’s view of a work zone and what he or she may find in a work zone. Finalists’ drawings were displayed in the annual Illinois Work Zone Safety Calendar.
