Application of types of temporary/removable pavement marking material and special linestriping material
Vermont allows water-based paints if adding a new surface. VDO has had good experiences with some 3M tapes that have good retroreflectivity in wet conditions and can be removed after 4 to 6 months of use. Some of the tapes have been found to either come off under traffic in the first week or are impossible get it off after longer periods.
If the standard is changed to place the tape on the bottom of the CMB, you would not have a water or removal problem and it would be up where lights would give you more retroreflectivity.
