Personal protective equipment requirements

PennDOT requires highway crew members to wear hard hats, above-the-ankle leather shoes, and fluorescent yellow t-shirts (provided by the department). Crew members (not performing flagging duties) who are not wearing fluorescent yellow t-shirts must wear a safety vest. In addition, flaggers must wear ANSI Class II fluorescent yellow vests and leggings.

Safety glasses and other PPE vary depending on the job being performed.
