AASHTO, ITE, NCUTCD: Don’t Delay New MUTCD

Abstract:

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NUCTD) are urging the Federal Highway Administration in a letter sent on March 11 to ensure timely publication of a new edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). They pointed out that, during the past decade, there have been many advancements in transportation research, technology, practice, and services. These advancements, if well-integrated into the next edition of MUTCD, have the potential to save numerous lives and prevent serious injuries on the nation’s transportation system.
