Ariz. Department of Transportation Tests Solar-Powered Lights for Highway Maintenance Vehicles
Abstract:Currently roadside workers have to keep their vehicles running to have the emergency lights on to alert drivers to their presence, which wastes fuel and emits pollution. The Arizona Department of Transportation is looking at solar power as a safety solution. It is testing solar powered emergency lights on 37 maintenance vehicles to make sure they can run properly under different weather conditions.
