ARTBA Makes Multi-Lingual Roadway Safety Training Program Presentation at International Transportation Conference
Abstract:During the “2007 Border-to-Border Transportation Conference” which was held in McAllen, Texas, April 17-19, ARTBA Vice President of Safety & Education Brad Sant, in his presentation, shared the unique content in the “Roadway Safety” training program, which covers 15 key roadway work zone safety concerns in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The multi-lingual approach is of particular interest to public officials from the U.S. and Mexico as they work to improve cross-border communications in key trade corridors to enhance the transportation of goods, services and people. The training program was developed by ARTBA and key industry partners, including the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Laborers Health and Safety Fund of North America, National Asphalt Pavement Association, International Union of Operating Engineers and Texas Transportation Institute (TTI).
