ARTBA Tackles New Driver Safety Education Head-On with “Turning Point” Campaign
Abstract:Work zone related deaths of teen drivers are becoming more frequent. To combat this problem ARTBA has created a comprehensive program: “Turning Point: Roadway Work Zone Safety for New Drivers”. Roadway work zones present teen drivers with unfamiliar traffic patterns and hazards. The maze of jersey barriers, traffic cones, flaggers, flashing lights and orange signs can cause confusion and dangerous driving situations. To help reduce injuries and fatalities from work zone-related crashes involving teen drivers, ARTBA and its partners will distribute the “Turnng Point” curriculum to drivers education programs around the country. The program includes videos, cd-roms and other promotional, educational, and instructor-support materials.
