Audi’s Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything Communications Tech Will Save Road Workers’ Lives
Author/Presenter: Craig ColeAbstract:
Audi’s next-generation C-V2X, cellular vehicle-to-everything communications technology, could significantly reduce crashes and fatalities. This system works with existing Traffic Light Information (TLI) and Green Light Optimized Speed Advisory (GLOSA) features that Audi already offers. TLI advises drivers of how long a signal will remain red before changing. GLOSA advises motorists to travel at a certain speed to avoid hitting red lights. Audi’s C-V2X technology allows cars to connect directly with other vehicles, infrastructure or even people, rather than sending data to the cloud and back. This results in faster and more accurate communications. If road workers wear special vests that can communicate with vehicles, the system can warn them of oncoming traffic to avoid getting hit.
