Brochin Seeks to Ban Use of Speed Cameras in Work Zones with No Workers

Sen. James Brochin is sponsoring a bill to limit the use of cameras to only when workers are present. Brochin supports the use of speed cameras for the sake of worker safety. But he said, when there are no workers around, there is no issue of worker safety and speed cameras are just like moneymaking devices. About 550,000 tickets were issued in work zones in Maryland last year, nearly half of those were issue when no workers were present.
