Colors of Flagger Safety Vests and Hard Hats

The objective of the study is to determine appropriate recommendations for the UDOT Standards Committee regarding flagger safety vest and hard hat colors. The color of and area occupied by vest striping is also considered. A literature search was conducted. State Departments of Transportation that are studying vest and hard hat colors were interviewed by telephone. The UDOT Traffic Engineering Panel composed of UDOT Traffic & Safety Engineers was consulted regarding their recommendations.
