Coronavirus Impact on Transportation Construction Unclear From Latest U.S. Jobs Report

Abstract:

According to the recent data released from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, total U.S. general construction employment fell less than 1 percent in March, but the full impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the transportation sector is unclear. Detailed information for highway, street and bridge construction employment usuallys lags one month behind the national jobs report. The author encourages ARTBA members to complete the 1st Quarter Transportation Construction Industry Conditions Survey to help ARTBA track the impacts of the pandemic.
