Failing to separate motorists and workers leads to more workers being struck. Today’s market offers movable concrete-and-steel barriers and other safety products that can be quickly deployed and retrieved to open and close lanes, accommodating roadwork and rush-hour traffic. However, outdated policies and practices hinder their use. This article provides a reminder of the need for the increased use of physical barriers to separate workers from traffic.
