Pavement dropoffs are a common occurrence in highway construction. The treatment of the pavement dropoffs contributes directly to the overall project safety and the construction work efficiency. This research provided for a review of existing guidelines for dropoffs and the development of proposed revisions of dropoff guidelines in an effort to simplify current standards and provide improved safety.
