DOT Crews Try to Find Personal Protective Equipment to Continue Work

Author/Presenter: Carosa, Kristen
Abstract:

Department of Transportation (DOT) workers are considered essential employees. Since the pandemic started, most construction projects have carried on. With new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, workers need personal protective equipment (PPE) but DOT officials had donated all to help first responders earlier. In the absence of PPE, state workers and contracted teams are following guidelines that support hand-washing and social distancing and continue to practice as many safety measures as possible, such as limiting teams to two people, sanitizing all state vehicles after using them, and eliminating group gatherings.
