Driver Arrested After Striking, Killing DOTD Worker Helping Disabled Motorist Along I-610

Abstract:

Eric Anthony Jr., a 23-year-old Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) worker, was fatally struck while assisting a disabled motorist on I-610 in New Orleans. The driver, Oscar Perez-Moran, is under investigation for negligent homicide. The incident occurred despite activated emergency lights and cones marking the area. Anthony, a Motorist Assistance Patrol employee and father, had just begun his job in July. DOTD emphasized the importance of road safety and adherence to move-over laws. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
