Emergency Managers and First Responders Use Twitter and Facebook to Update Communities

“Social media” or “Web 2.0” have often been considered as the tools for citizens to talk to friends. This article discusses how fire departments or emergency management offices are using those tools such as Twitter and Facebook to inform the public about traffic accidents and other emergencies. Issues and concerns are also discussed.
