Evaluating Risk Factors in Highway Construction Safety: A Logistic Regression Approach
Author/Presenter: Nguyen, Tuan Anh; Luu, Huu CongAbstract:
This study aims to evaluate the risk factors affecting occupational safety in highway construction projects, including the lack of protective equipment, unsafe working conditions, insufficient employee training, unclear work processes, and lack of safety supervision. Data from 569 survey responses were analyzed using a binary logistic regression model to identify the relationship between these risk factors and occupational safety incidents. The results show that unclear work processes and unsafe working conditions are the most significant factors influencing safety risks, with Exp(B) values of 11.455 and 7.939, respectively. The regression model accurately predicted 93.3% of the occupational safety risk cases, demonstrating its effectiveness in identifying key risk factors. Based on these findings, the study concludes that improving work processes and working conditions is essential to reducing occupational safety risks in highway construction projects while also enhancing the quality of safety management at construction sites.
