Flashing Lights and Neon Vests

The state of Texas ranks number one in the nation in terms of number of fatalities and injuries in highway construction work zones. As such, this has become an important safety issue in the state of Texas and particular emphasis has been placed on creating ways to aid drivers in recognizing and reacting to work zones. This article discusses several innovations produced by the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) designed to increase drivers’ awareness and visibility of work zones.
