Florida DOT Starts Lane Closure Notification Pilot Test

Abstract:

The Florida Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Florida Transportation Builders Association, recently activated a pilot program to test a new Lane Closure Notification System (LCNS). The system leverages the latest GPS and mapping technologies to improve the safety of highway workers by altering drivers about active work zones or lane closures. The LCNS integrates with the mapping services already used by drivers, providing real-time and accurate work zone information to increase safety for all.
