Guidelines Developed for Short Duration and Stop-and-Go Maintenance
Abstract:This article discusses the portable traffic control setup for short duration and stop-and-go maintenance activities. It includes a reference to TTI report 377-2F “Traffic Control for Short Duration and Stop-and-Go Maintenance Operations on Four-Lane Divided Roadways”. It covers the TMUTCD and describes the way the study was done. Includes a diagram of a typical setup. Results showed that the Changeable Message sign and the Lane Blocked sign were the most effective in getting the motorists to exit the closed lane.
