HC Orders Traffic Report on Road Deaths Due to Potholes, Urges Better Coordination in Repairs

Abstract:

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has ordered a traffic police report on fatalities caused by potholes and frequent road digging. The court highlighted poor coordination among various agencies involved in road works, which leaves roads unsafe and unrepaired, leading to accidents. The court also urged better oversight and a consolidated plan among authorities to reduce road digging. This move follows a 2020 directive aimed at holding officials accountable for pothole-related accidents and improving road conditions through citizen complaint platforms.
