High Speeds Put Metro Detroit Road Workers in Danger
Author/Presenter: Greenwood, TomAbstract:
Thousands of Metro Detroit motorists driving through construction zones are reaching speeds on average of more than 20 mph above posted limits, endangering workers and themselves. Several countermeasures that have been implemented include using more patrols to enforce the speed limit in work zones, launching the “Give Em a Brake” safety coalition program to promote slower driving in construction zones, and expanding “Andy’s Law” which originally imposed a penalty on anyone who kills or injures a road worker.
